It was October 2005, the first few months after “the storm.” A time in New Orleans which has etched its place in the history of the city. Over the course of that winter, very few restaurants or food service facilities were accessible to the businesses, agencies, organizations and residents in New Orleans who found themselves needing meals as they began the long task of digging out from under the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

The Pel Hughes family made a commitment to rebuild and help its community in every way possible. Kellie, Russ wanted to rebuild the city the best way they knew how…by providing good food. Partnering with Vic Hughes and his family, Kelie and Russ established Toulouse Gourmet Catering in the Pel Hughes Printing & Direct Mail Building in Mid City.

We began providing box lunches, lunch buffets, school lunches and corporate catering. With their many years’ as event specialists in the catering business, Kellie and Russ were soon providing delicious and distinctive catering for weddings and special events throughout the New Orleans area. When asked about what their “motto” was, Kellie and Russ both immediately state “good food” as being top priority.

“Absolute fresh ingredients, creativity, uniqueness, customizeable menus, and really listening and working with our clients,” Kellie said. “That’s what we do.” “Also friendly, professional attention to every detail…that makes for memorable, flawless events,” she added. With our innovation, creativity, and passion, we have dedicated ourselves to providing memorable events. “We are passionate about the food and dedicated to making the client’s event perfect for them.”

To those who stayed to rebuild and to those who visit, we welcome you. We look forward to the opportunity of providing you with the memorable event and the good food you deserve.
